What Robin does

Robin is a Chrome extension and web app that helps you save job postings, tailor your resume, and generate cover letters. It works by reading the content of job posting pages you visit and using AI to match them against your resume.

Data we collect

• Job posting data — When you save a job, we store the job title, company name, location, URL, and description. This is stored locally in your browser and optionally synced to your account if you sign in.
• Resume data — The resume you build or upload is stored locally in your browser and optionally synced to your account if you sign in.
• Email address — If you create an account, we store your email address for authentication and account management.

Data we send to third parties

• AI processing — When you generate a tailored resume or cover letter, your resume text and the job description are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic Claude via OpenRouter) for processing. This data is not stored by the AI provider beyond the duration of the request.
• Payment processing — If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is handled by Stripe. We do not store your credit card details.

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers. We do not use your data for any purpose other than providing the Robin service to you.

Browser permissions

The Chrome extension requests the following permissions:

• storage — To save your bookmarked jobs locally in Chrome's storage.
• sidePanel — To display the Robin sidebar on any page.
• activeTab — To read the current page and detect if it contains a job posting when you open the sidebar.
• scripting — To inject the content script that extracts job posting data from the page.
• tabs — To detect when you navigate to a new page so the sidebar can update, and to open the web app.

Where data is stored

• Without an account — All data is stored locally in your browser (Chrome storage and localStorage). Nothing leaves your device except AI generation requests.
• With an account — Your resume and cover letters are synced to our database (hosted on Supabase) so you can access them across devices. Job posts are synced from the extension to the web app via browser storage.

Data deletion

You can delete all locally stored data at any time using the "Clear All Data" option in the extension sidebar settings menu. If you have an account, you can request full data deletion by emailing us.
